Week 48 – Nevermind

Nevermind

Most people have REALLY lame first album purchase stories! It’s normally something embarrassing like Boyz II Men or New Kids on the Block, or even Donnie and Marie Osmond if you’re a little older.

I’m going to take the moral high ground because my first album has far greater credibility. It’s arguably one of the most definitive albums of all time, Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’. I still remember handing over my hard earned cash for it back in 1993 (well after it had been released mind you!).

I learnt how to play every song on this album and even went so far as to build a Nirvana fan site! It most definitely made me look at music a different way.

So what was your first album? The lamer the better, don’t be afraid, we won’t judge. :)

Thanks to my mate Deano for helping me out on this shot, there’s no way I would have been able to manage by myself!

Feel free to judge me Lucky, feel free to judge. I can take it!

    Hanson. Middle of Nowhere.

    That’s right, the MMMBop boys.

Can’t get any more embarrassing than that! I couldn’t help it, their songs and long blond locks were strangely hypnotising…

Alanis Morissette – Jagged Little Pill!

    Best album ever. ;-)

Was this the inspiration for your photo? http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1598985/20081110/nirvana.jhtml

I LOVE this week’s post, Lucky. Probably because of my unhealthy obession with Kurt Cobain :) And RE: Kim -There is NOTHING wrong with Hanson! Still love that album!

My first CD was Bush – Sixteen Stone, although I had purchased many cassettes well before that. The first cassette I bought was Paula Abdul – Forever Your Girl, haha. Now that is embarassing.

Mmm…Mine was either Pearl Jam’s Ten or a box set of Billy Joel tapes. There is a bit of ambiguity as to which came first. My third incidently was Fine Young Cannibals – The Raw and the Cooked. Nup, no embarrasment there.

Leah’s was either Mariah Carey’s Music Box or Metallica’s Black album. There is talk of a Dirty Dancing soundtrack in there too…

    Haha!
    Awesome spin on the cover.

You must have started buying albums a lot later than me.
My first EVER album was given to me at the ripe age of 6 and it was Olivia Newton John’s Greatest Hits haha
    I was obsessed with Grease.

I think the first album I ever purchased myself was probably INXS X.
I was a mad Hutchence fan back in the day.
I had plenty of records before that though as my mumma was very positive about always buying me music from a young age.
