I took some promo shots for some friends of mine, and awesome band, The Dawn Collective. I’ve been mates with a couple of these guys back to the days of when I played in a band, and that was at least 5 or 6 years ago.
These shots were all taken in a park near Newtown in Sydney. It was bright afternoon in all of the shots, so the night effect was kinda accidental (because i had my camera settings a bit messed up) but i liked how they turned out so kept them.
This shot was inspired by a shot by the immensely talented Wylie Maercklein.

I asked the band about the whole suit thing, and apparently it was quite accidental when Greg (guitarist) and Andrew (singer/guitarist) turned up to their first show both wearing suits. Since then, their music has adapted, as well as the line up, but the suit thing is still there.
We were walking back to the cars after we took this shot, and 30 seconds after we got in, the floodgates open. Tragically, the rain was so severe that 2 people were killed quite nearby when they were inside a drain pipe which swept them out towards the sea.

The band were so easy to work with, they were awesomely professional about everything and were agreeable to any suggestion I had, which makes my job damn easy!

There is still 1 photo I haven’t touched, well actually, there are 7 photos I haven’t touched yet. If my whole plan for it works, then I think it’ll be worth a post just for itself. ;)
Excellent lighting assistance provided on the day by Soph and the patient people of Newtown who politely walked around us during the afternoon.
Update:
One last photo, pretty similar to the last one above here.

That first one may be inspired by my shot, but it’s far better than mine :). Awesome work.
